OK... so in terms of "valuing" the current honorarium, it is $25 plus a $20 membership. $45.

Here is what other clubs offer based on replies received so far, just as reference:

1. $20 - $25
2. $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble, a club patch and a club Coffee Mug.
3. Sliding scale depending on whether they are paid by their employers to do outreach, their
individual needs, especially regards travel expense and lodging. If a fee were requested we would
review it of course, but I think about 100 - 150 + hotel would probably be our limit in most
cases.
4. $200 plus a cap.
5. Dinner to speaker and significant other before lecture and very nice enclosed formal
ertificate. Just instituted an additional perk of $50 for travel if accepted by speaker.
6. $150 plus $100 for a hotel room.

Feedback also says that not all speakers accept, or can accept, honorarium. One reply said only
1/3rd to 1/2 of offered honorarium is accepted.

As you can see, SJAA giving $45 worth of "value" is not the lowest honorarium, a point that really
does not matter... but it is also not the most "generous" either.

I am sending this to the AANC board mailing list as well, with thanks for the feedback its members
have provided.

We (SJAA) can discuss what if any action we wish to take regarding honorarium at the board meeting
next month, unless our club president wants to continue the topic here on our mailing list.

Regards,

Mark
